CRACKED! A 2 CHICK EGGSABITION. THIS WAS A COLLABORATION BETWEEN ARTIST JULIA MCLAIN & ANN HUEY IN 2007 AT THE DALLAS WHITE ROCK BATH HOUSE CULTURAL CENTER. THE OBJECTIVE WAS AN OBVIOUS ATTEMPT AT KITSCH EGG RELATED CONCEPTS.

CARNIVAL GLASS. THIS WAS FOR A COLLAGE SHOW CURATED BY DAVID McCULLOUGH IN 2013 AT THE DALLAS WHITE ROCK BATH HOUSE CULTURAL CENTER. COLLAGE IS THE ART OF TAKING SEPARATE COMPONENTS & INTEGRATING THEM INTO A WHOLE. THIS WAS INSPIRED BY THINGS THAT BLOW: BUBBLES & VOLCANOES. 

PARTY TIME: 2008  /  24" X 15" / HAPPY CUPIDS CRUISE ON PAINTED EGGS GOING TO A PARTY. PEARLY BACKGROUND.


EGGSTREMELY CONTROLLING. 19" LONG NURSERY SCENE. PEARLY WALLS AND PLASTER FLOOR. THIS ORANGE GLITTER GLASS EGG WAS INSPIRED BY TROLL ANIMALS. IN THE 1960s DANISH DOLL MAKER: THOMAS DAM CAME UP WITH THE TROLL DOLL: I WAS IN THE 6TH GRADE WHEN THEY BECAME POPULAR. LITTLE GIRLS PULLED THEM OUT OF THEIR PURSE & COMBED THEIR COLORFUL HAIR! I BELIEVE THIS WAS THE PRECURSOR TO MANIC PANIC HAIR COLOR!

PANORAMIC EGGS.WHAT CHILD DOESN'T FIND PANORAMIC SUGAR EGSS INTRIGUING? GRAPHICS ON THE INSIDE WERE INSPIRED BY RETRO MEMORABILIA.

DISGUSTINGLY SWEET ENTRANCE USED TO SET THE TONE! THE GALLERY WAS ALREADY PAINTED BUTTER CREAM CANDY  WITH DENTINE GUM COLORED FLOOR. WE PUT UP A TREE WITH VINTAGE STYROFOAM CHICKS AND BUNNIES. VINTAGE SILHOUETTE ANIMALS WERE PAINTED ON THE WALLS GIVING A STORYBOOK FEEL.

THE VINTAGE VIDEO: "I'M FOREVER BLOWING BUBBLES " BY THE FLEISCHER BROTHERS. LAYERS WERE WERE USED TO INDICATE DEPTH. SOME LAYERS WERE SEWN IN FROM BEHIND SUGGESTING OTHER REALITIES CREEPING IN FROM OTHER PORTALS INTO THIS DIMENSION. I USED ACETATE AS THE WINDOW INTO THAT WORMHOLE. I CHOSE TO REINTERPRET THE PHYSICS OF THE BUBBLE AS FLAT OPAQUE OBJECTS INSTEAD OF 3 DIMENSIONAL, TRANSLUCENT & REFLECTIVE.
